Georgia-Pacific hosts International Women’s Day program March 1
The International Women’s Forum of Georgia will celebrate International Women’s Day on March 1 with a half-day program on happiness. The chapter’s 5th annual event, “Together we Thrive: The Impact and Effects of Happiness on Women’s Leadership and Equity,” will be hosted by Georgia-Pacific.
Featured speakers will include:
· Robert Waldinger, MD, Professor of Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School; Director of the Harvard Study of Adult Development, Massachusetts General Hospital and Cofounder, Lifespan Research Foundation
· Dr. Kathleen Hall, the founder and CEO of Mindful Living Network and The Stress Institute
· Janet Wells, Professional Actress and Comedian in Film, Television, Radio, and Stage; and Comedy Improv Instructor
· Saleemah Abdul-Ghafur, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Director, Chief of Staff
· Dr. Helene Gayle, President of Spelman College
“The program will take a global look at what it means to be happy through different cultural lenses; to the ways happiness and life satisfaction — and the challenges to achieve them — tie to policy, leadership and definition of success,” said Susan O’Farrell, 2024 International Women’s Day chair. “We’ll explore it all and might just spread a little joy while we’re at it!”
International Women’s Day Co-chair Amy Glennon said she’s glad that International Women’s Day is delving into the topic of happiness, and its impact on woman and leadership. “The notion of happiness can get pushed aside — we’re too busy ... It’s not important right now … the world is too messy,” said Glennon. “But I’m eager to hear what that could cost us and what we might want to do about it.”
The International Women’s Day program is one of the Georgia chapter’s signature events and the only one where external guests are invited. Open to members and the public, this hybrid event will be held at Georgia-Pacific, 133 Peachtree Street, Atlanta GA 30303 and online.
